Causes of Oily Skin * Heredity * Diet * Hormone levels * Pregnancy * Birth control pills * Cosmetics you use * Humidity and hot weather Diet for Oily Skin * Take a diet rich in proteins but restricted in sugar, fluids and salt. * Take plenty of leafy green vegetables and fresh fruits. * Have your blood brought up to par by the suitable administration of necessary vitamins, iron and similar substances. * Even a slight deficiency in vitamin B2 can cause oily skin. * Nutritional yeast, wheat germ and organ meats provide both vitamin B5 and vitamin B2. Other good sources of vitamin B2 are whole grains, beans, nuts, and royal jelly. Buckwheat, black beans and whole rice are excellent to supply the body with iron and rejuvenate pate skin. * Drink plenty of quality water to keep the skin hydrated and flush out toxins. * Reduce the amount of fat in your diet. Avoid pork and fried and highly seasoned foods. Consume no animal fats, or heat-processed vegetable oils. * Do not cook with oil. Do not eat any oils that have been subjected to heat, whether in processing or cooking. If a little oil is necessary, such as in salad dressing, use cold-pressed canola or olive oil only. * Do not drink soft drinks or alcoholic beverages. Avoid sugar, chocolate, and junk food.

I know that oily skin can be a pain at times. I still have it at age 52 and have to make sure my pores do not get plugged up as I will get adult acne. On the bright side, I have no wrinkles(lol). I am not sure how old you are, but depending on your age will dictate the best way to take care of your oily skin. I wash my face twice a day as over washing can dry out your skin. That creates another problem. In ending, try not to use any makeup. I only use lipstick. When you make sure your pores are free to breathe, they will cooperate and not be overstimulated = oily skin. You may also want to carry something in your purse to clean your face in between washing. Again, be careful not to overdry or irritate your skin. Good Luck smile

What I do is put extra virgin olive oil on my face every night. I leave it on for 30 minutes then rinse it. I have seen some improvements especially on my t-zones which used to be really oily. And once a week I apply deep cleansing mask to deeply clean pores. I use the mask from Omorovicza which has white clay. It's purifying and soothing all at the same time.

Before I went raw, My t-zone and hair were very oily. They have settled down now. I only use rhassoul clay with distilled water to cleanse off my mineral makeup. And I steam my face for moisture. When I used every 'cleanser, toner, moisturizer regime' out there, my face was a grease pit.

I have very oily skin and am 42. I normally don't like to name specific brand names but I have been using the Neutrogena oil-free soap (the orange stuff in a pump bottle) for pretty much my entire life and I adore it. If I go out to hotels and use the other soaps there my face immediately feels unhappy. The Neutrogena for me does a great job of clearing the oil away gently without hurting my skin.

Which in a way is a bad thing because it means if Neutrogena goes out of business, I'll be very sad. And it means I realize how my face suffers when I travel. That is, if I always used "not great soap" I would think that red / sensitive skin was normal and just live with it as my normal way. But now that I know this Neutrogena is perfect for my face and am so happy when I use it, it means when I'm in situations that I can't use it, I notice right away.

I find Clinique facial wash reduces oiliness on the skin. But I don't use it anymore cos as I age, (now above 40),my skin's more dry than oily.
