Pain that runs down the back of your head and into your neck and shoulders is commonly a result of a tension headache.

I am still working on not getting these (lol). But I am PROUD to say I really cannot remember when I last got one. The trick is to back up from whatever tension is around in order to avoid the pain taking over. Now I pay attention to when my body starts to "tense" up = RED light, stop and rethink whatever is facing me. Sometimes it is easier said than done, but I so hate pain and do not do well with pain. I still marvel that I actually had a child(lol), but note, I only did it ONE time. Hats off to women who have more than one!!!! Yikes smile

I totally agree, Angela. These are hard to avoid completely, but being aware is a big part of the battle. smile

The causes of Tension-type headaches are not well understood but luckily effective treatments of this problem are available. I think effective strategies to manage tension headache are to develop habits of healthy eating and regular exercising.

Regular breaks throughout the working day, especially with some physical activity, help to manage my headaches to some extent. Sufficient sleep seems another necessity.
