Hi,
I've written a new article about some of my favorite reference books. What are yours?

Does anyone have the reference book 400 Stitches? The cover and review looked promising and it's on sale. Any feedback graciously appreciated, it's not at the library here for me to check it out before purchasing.

HI, is this one the Harmony Guides? If so, they are generally very good.

It's a Potter Craft book from Random House and the correct title is 400 Knitting Stitches, a Complete Dictionary of Essential Stitch Patterns.

I don't know if Potter Craft is a series of crafting books by this publisher. I don't recall seeing others with this name. What caught my eye was the cover photo. It was of two stacks of dish/wash cloths, each in a different stitch. I love making these! Quick and Easy, almost instant gratification, and a great way for me to learn new stitches.

It's a softcover and under $20, so I might just treat myself to an early Mother's Day present.

Thanks for that good tidbit. I mentioned it to my husband last night. Hope he takes the hint. Think I'll save the webpage to the desktop, dead center, with the file name MOTHER'S DAY PRESENT smile

I'm not sure if this is really a reference book but I love "Knitting Rules" by Yarn Harlot, Stephanie Pearl-McPhee. There is lots of great info and it's VERY funny to read.

I didn't wait for the Mother's Day Present Hint. Went to Michaels yesterday and Potter Craft's 400 Knitting Stitches was on the shelf. But not anymore! I love the consistent illustrations and the instructions are concise and clear. The stitches are grouped into categories which is most helpful. It's easy to compare and learn with one of the simpler versions.

There are 229 Twisted Knit Stitches! That was a comfort for this self-taught "Twisted" Knitter smile
