Elizabeth Sladen, the Doctor's famous travelling companion Sarah Jane, who left BBC series Doctor Who, (then played by Tom Baker), in 1976 - then returned for follow up progs The School Reunion and The Sarah Jane Adventures, has sadly died of cancer, aged 63.

This is a very poignant moment from 'The School Reunion' which starred David Tennant and Billie Piper, along with Elizabeth.

Only just heard about this myself - very sad.

I watched again School Reunion...

Such a good episode, not the baddies or the tin dog, but the human story.

Rose comes to understand that the Dr had companions before her and that she will age and die while he carries on. And the Dr knows that Rose can spend the rest of her life with him, but he cannot spend the rest of his life with her.

And we see that Sarah Jane didn't marry or have children because she was still in love with the Dr, who left her (at the other end of the country) and never returned for her.
