Hi Everyone:

Who "inspired" you as a child or as an adult?

Me, as a child (have not had any since then) - my grandparents. Reason for saying this - even at now age 52, and with only my grandma alive (have not seen her in 24 years) - my time with them still brings a BIG smile to my face. They were hard working folks, but ALWAYS had time for their spoilt grandchild - the only grandchild that would run to spend school holidays with them. I am so GLAD no other kids wanted to be around because I got ALL their attention smile Now when I am unemployed and things are not exactly the way I want them to be, I close my eyes and think back to my days of hanging out with my grandparents at their jobs. They owned their own business. And how they took the city bus EVERY day, refusing to have their kids come get them. In fact, my grandfather died in his sleep after working that day. He was in his 80's. My grandmother is still alive, age 103 this year!!!! I need to go see her and pray that one day I will be able to afford to see her. 24 years is too LONG...

And when I came to the United States at age 16 from Jamaica, West Indies (did not want to) - THEY (because they loved me) kept me safe from getting into "drugs" which was ALWAYS around me. Because they were so important to me, even with them not being with me, just the thought of "disappointing" them made me think TWICE about doing them.

Now your turn...

Thanks,

Great Topic Angela, I rrrreeeally like this one.

I was inspired by my mother's sister, Aunt Betty. She was worldly (having been in the service and travelled quite a bit), educated, strong & independent. She was single & seemed to have everything she wanted. She was quiet and straight to the point.

I was also inspired by my mom. She was beautiful, flighty, musical, loved to dance & minded her own business. She didn't force her views on anyone and she kept her personal life personal.

I appreciate all that I gathered from the two. One without the other would have left me a bit lopsided.

Who's next?

Aunt Lee, my father's sister, inspired me. She is pleasant, and most of all she introduced me to the wonderful world of books and reading; she always gave me books for my birthday.

My mom inspired me to be the best person i could be and instilled so many great values in me which i try to pass down to my kids. If you look at all these stupid reality tv shows it seems as if the world today doesn't have any values, that really irritates me.

As a child nobody, I did have idols but they did not inspired me. As an adult Michael Schumacher, Eric Lindros and Angelina Jolie.
