Monica, you are so right on track. I truly have seen that the closer we are to our true authentic selves, the calmer we are within, the clearer we can see our goals without judgment or fear. The road and steps to takes will come from that inner peace.

As talk of the recession started, I tried to keep my focus where it has always been, that the Universe will take care of me and I'd be ok, no matter what came along. I kept thinking of myself and my family as very fortunate and grateful for all we have. We have basically had no financial problems during the past couple of years and things are going very well.

I'd get into conversations with people who weren't doing as well (my sister in another state lost her job a year ago and hasn't been able to get another earning even a fracion of what she was making)and I'd try to just listen and be sympathetic but I also see that my sister has a very negative view of life and all that happens to her and don't. Am I just lucky? Or is is that I think differently than she does?

I agree with Linda in that many have taken the law of attraction and turned it into being about money. When I first started reading about it, I thought that way too but as time went along, I saw that it was about so much more. It was about finding peace within yourself and being happy and grateful for your life and all the good things you have.

Since studying the law of attraction, I've thought more about what sort of person I want to be inside. I started meditating, doing yoga and tai chi to help me physically and spiritually and I'm much calmer and more forgiving than I used to be.

One of my favorite quotes regarding LOA is "You don't attract what you want, you attract what you ARE." Who are you inside? How do you really think and feel? This is what got you where you are today but if you don't like where you care, you can focus your attention on being a better person in whatever way is important to you and make it happen. The way to do it will come once your focus is clear.

Hope that helps some!

Hi Angela

On one hand, I agree with your point of view - however part of the teachings of Abraham (Esther & Jerry Hicks) is to be in a state of 'joy' and 'relief' no matter what is happening, how much there is or isn't in the bank account etc...

While it's difficult to remain happy and feeling prosperous when the bills are more than the income, there's something to be said as well for finding that place inside you where it's all ok, no matter what...

For some, it's the Law of Attraction - for others, it's faith in God or a higher power.

It's a fascinating topic!

Kind regards

Hi LeighStJohn:

Yes, I agree with being "grateful" for what we now have. I know personally that it brings more GOOD stuff my way. Also at age 52, I have learn't to appreciate the small things in life and not stress out over stuff I have no control over. Now some days are easier to do this and some are not. Thanks for stopping by and responding to my post smile

I think my biggest lesson in life has been to let go of things I have no control over. For me it came down to trusting in a higher good, for myself and others, which was guiding the situation better than I could.

We don't see why certain things happen at the time but have to trust in the long view.

When I was in my 30's, alone and single, I went back into the Navy, where I'd spent 7 of my younger years. At the time, I had a relationship with a guy who was stationed in CA and I wanted to go there too. I actually got orders there and then at the last minute they were changed to Rota, Spain.

I did not want to go overseas at the time and got very upset over the orders. However, when I got there, I met my future husband and we have a 25 year old beautiful daughter now.

If I'd had my way, my life would be different but I think it turned out better than what I thought I wanted at the time.

Hi joanj:

Thanks for stopping by and sharing with us. Some days I can "let go" and others I am hanging on for dear life smile But at age 52, soon to be 53 - I am finally learning it is so much less stress when I do "let go" of stuff I need to.
