She was an icon and legend and will be sorely missed. My thoughts are with her family and friends. The world has lost a great talent, R.I.P. Ms.Taylor

She was an icon and I enjoyed everything she did especially "Cleopatra". My prayers go out to her family. She will also be remembered for her active roll in the AIDS community.

I remember seeing a very young and beautiful Elizabeth Taylor in one of the early "Star Trek" episodes.

Are you sure that Liz T was in Star Trek? I'm a big ST fan, and I don't recall her in that series. I do recall a young Joan Collins in the great episode where Kirk and the crew went back in time to the Great Depression.

My favorite Liz Taylor movies were Cleopatra and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? She and Richard Burton were amazing together!

She was one of the last genuine Hollywood greats.

Whoops, you are right. The episode where they go back to the Great Depression is the episode of which I was thinking. When I read of Elizabeth Taylor's death, for some reason I immediately thought of that episode. Maybe it was because it was early this morning and I wasn't completely awake yet.

Well, Liz Taylor and Joan Collins are easy to confuse--both beautiful, talented brunettes with successful careers spanning most of their lives. Fortunately, Ms. Collins is still with us, but we have now lost the lovely Liz Taylor.

While I remember Ms. Taylor for so many of her heartfelt dramatic performances, one of my strongest impressions of her is when she was first struggling with her weight back in the 70's. So many people would make fun of her in very public ways (notably, Joan Rivers and the tabloid press). My heart went out to her at that time. Why do people feel so free to make jokes at the expense of people who have weight issues?

She was incandescent in 'A Place In the Sun' with Montgomery Clift - and I agree - her and Richard Burton were exceptional together in 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf'. She maintained her dignity in all she did and was just gorgeous. As the greats die - you start to realize your age!

The thing I remember Elizabeth Taylor for were her violet eyes.

She had a very large jewelry collection, and at the age of 12 she fell from her horse while filming National Velvet, damaging her back which caused her problems until she died.

And that she married Richard Burton, I think, three times.

I liked her as Maggy 'The Cat' in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with Steve McQueen as her husband Brick Pollit, it was made the year I was born.

Hi Linda - yes, beautiful eyes. She married Burton twice and they remained friends until he died.

'Cat On a Hot Tin Roof'! Absolutely brilliant - I just love that film. Maggie the Cat - the way she chased after him up that sweeping staircase at the end - and who wouldn't? Paul Newman was just as gorgeous as she was when he was young.
