Anyone got a good coffee substitute suggestion?

I have only been drinking coffee for 10 years. I love the it's taste and I thoroughly enjoy the heat. I have discovered its magical awakening powers over the past year. I have also discovered that it completely dries out my skin.

I will gladly take tea and hot chocolate on most occasions just for the heat, but they cannot replace the taste. I've tried coffee substitutes like Pero for the taste and I like it ok.

My most recent discovery is Ganoderma Coffee. It is coffee, said to have an herbal substance that offsets the negative effects of coffee. I really like the taste, but I'm still drying out. Has anyone else tried it? What do you think? Gayle, have you heard anything about it?

I've tried Teeccino and do not love it. I'd rather just drink black tea w/cream and honey.

Any other suggestions?

Well, until some fabulous solution comes along, it's back to the Pero because it's the closest substitute thus far. I still love coffee. I wish it loved me back.

LOL Yvonnie, I have not smile

But I have heard of some "natural" stuff that supposedly taste like coffee. I drink coffee for the taste of "caffeine" as it no longer keeps me awake. Right now, I have been "cold turkey" for a few weeks due to refusing to drink the lower cost coffee. Our budget just cannot fit in the EXPENSIVE kinds I like (lol).

But I do plan on stopping by a Starbucks soon, really soon just to have ONE (note) very STRONG cup as a "treat" and then go back to not.

Please let us know if you find any options - I know I would love to hear them smile

I've been looking too and have not found a substitute. Have you ever tried yerba mate (regular or chocolate). Sometimes this works for me.

I also found that drinking a glass of chia water a day has helped me cut way back.

I still love coffee more though and it's hard to give it up even though I know it would help my skin too.

We have something called Camp Coffee in the UK, it comes in a bottle in liquid form. It is made with chicory.

Angela, LOL, those cold turkey breaks makes the 1st sip back less than you'd expect. Let me know how yours was.

Monica, I like mint yerba, but not regular. Haven't tried chocolate.

Diana, I love coffee at home best of all.

Linda, Yes, the Pero is a combination of chickory & barley. I like the taste best when mixed w/a tad bit of instant coffee (that stuff can't be real). I can do this as a substitute & its not too bad on the skin. It's actually becoming my favorite substitute & I manage to only have a cup every other day.

Thanks all for sharing.

I agree with Linda, Chicory can be a good coffee substitute, but the problem is that your skin is drying out. Too intake of such drinks will definitely lead to such problems, so I suggest you must switch to some healthy drink that also acts as an anti-oxidant.

[/quote] I tried Ganoderma not too long ago. A friend was selling the stuff and claimed that it would also help in weight loss. Unfortunately, I didn't really like the taste and well, I didn't lose weight either.

I mix in equal parts two Teeccino flavors, Java and Maya French Roast--this produces the closest taste to coffee I have found.

Hope this helps.
