Hello everyone! Thank you for visiting my forum. I've written my first contraversial article for the Attachment Parenting site (although I guess some consider attached parenting contraversial on its own...). The article is Evolutionary Concept in Attachment Parenting , and focuses on the fundamentals of AP being based on the natural parenting of our very ancient ancestors, and having been adapted through evolution. Please let me know what you think. Thanks

Great article, Molly! My kids are grown now but I definitely parented them with this method and the benefits still live on.
They are very close to us today.

Interesting article. I do not believe in macro evolution, but I do agree with what you say about "tribal culture". I think that many of the things that modern culture does today to raise children has not been the norm for most of history.

It's interesting that you mention youth culture. I work with a population of adolescent males, mostly from inner-city Philadelphia (as well as other urban areas). Many are teen dads and their ideas on parenting are far out there. They have their "baby moms" but if you mention marriage or making a real commitment to these girls, they act like you asked them to cut off their right arm. Like having a child with someone is less of a commitment than a ring.

Great article Molly!
I find that Attachment Parenting also instills a level of confidence in children. They grow wings when they are confident in their ability to stand alone.
In addition, approaching your site topic from another angle, I saw this on Facebook today..
‎"The concept 'separation anxiety' is the invention of a society that denies a baby and childs need for uninterrupted connection. In this vein we can deprive a child of food and describe her reaction as 'hunger anxiety,' or we can let her be cold and call her cries 'temperature anxiety'." ~ Naomi Aldort, 2011
Keep educating us Molly:)

Great article... so what's "macro evolution?"
I consider myself an attachment parent - though now that my kids are in their teens and tweens, it's much different. I loved baby wearing (I used to even wear them sometimes while I gave a massage!), and breastfeeding and the family bed. I think attachment parenting made me a better mom.
