Our dog Oscar woke me up at 2:30 am - he was shaking and clinging to me. I thought he was ill but he didn't seem to be sick.

Do you think he "felt" the disaster a half a world away in Japan?

My cocker spaniel woke me sometime after 4 am. That was definately unusual for her. I let both dogs out and they were oddly quiet. I'm sure there's something they can sense. Or maybe it's sounds from other animals - like a global rumor mill.

The earth rings like a bell when there is a massive earthquake, and the pressure waves circle the world several times. That's what seismographs pick up. I think that animals, with their heightened senses, can also feel them and be frightened.

Both of you make perfect sense - animals are very sensitive.

Thank you for sharing!

I spoke with an animal intuitive yesterday and she believes animals, especially cats, can even predict disasters.

That is amazing!

I know that dogs can smell cancer in people.
