Medical assistance is ranked as one of the fastest growing professions by the U.S. Department of Labor. Like the OP says, medical assistants may provide different types of services depending on their employer. While a lot of medical assistants are trained on the job, employment opportunities are probably better if you complete post secondary medical assistant training from a career school like Career Step and get certified before you start applying for positions.
