I check out this website to see who is hiring. I'm a flight attendant now but I'm looking to change to a different airline. Right now there doesn't appear to be anything but check the site often they update it regularly. I read that one airline was actually hiring and their site was totally overwhelmed with applications!

Yes Delta (which I applied to) got over 100K applications. A lot of people from my airline applied but I only know one that got it. Then the other day Southwest opened up but their website crashed because they also got a lot of applications. Those are the only two airlines I want to work for so I just have to keep trying.

Okay, I am going to ask this question as I used to be a Flight Attendant at age 18 (now 53 this September) - if airlines are going out of business and laying off staff, how come they are HIRING????

When I worked for them, we were UNION and folks that were laid off had to be RECALLED first... Has this changed?

Thanks,

Continental and United are merging so are AirTran and Southwest don't know about any going out of business. Seems like a lot of the layoffs have stopped and a lot are hiring again.

One of my coworkers worked for Delta for over a decade and was laid off. She is still waiting to get called back. She said the reason they are not recalling layoffs too fast is because of money. She was making good money and they'd rather hire new people and pay them less. Delta is not union.
