Angela, :queen:Hi! I'm new to the forum but wanted you to know that I got my first orchid about two months ago, it was love at first site. The funny thing is that I got it from my former boss and her husband. He owns a orchid business called 1888orchids.com I loved learning and reading about them that he saw my interest and hired me for a position in the company. The position came right in time because my job with his wife ended.(temporary) Angela what I can totally tell you is if and when you can get your hands one one go for it. I adore mine and am looking into getting a few more, they are just such a beautiful site to see. There are so many types and colors you think you got them down then you find out there's another type out there...Oh by the way if you look into the web page they do have a contest for a giveaway...you could try that? Sometimes you can get them locally but you really need to keep your eye open for infestation of lil bugs so you really need to check the leafs ..etc. I hope this helps a bit and will want you to get one when possible :)

I was glad to see you said you purchased your orchids in Walmart, i was there yesterday and they had beautiful orchids for 14.88, but was afraid to buy them, thinking i wouldn't get them to bloom again, i had orchids yrs ago, and had problems but now i get emails from someone on how to care for them, cant think of the name right now, but he's tring to push his book, good luck with yours, i just might go back tomorrow, if the roads aren't icy, bye for n ow, Carol

I've had good luck with the Walmart ones. Some haven't rebloomed, but I need to repot and put new medium in. Thought I wait for spring for that - if we ever see it!

My hubby raises red wigglers and makes worm tea for my houseplants. He says that it is natural and you don't have to worry about hurting your plants with it.

I got a new orchid I got from Walmart after Valentines day for half price...maybe $7. It has put new blooms on since I brought it home. I guess it wasn't done blooming when I got it. That really surprised me. I guess it must be happy-happy (my grandaughters term for being really happy!). Connie

I think orchids are wonderful - the flowers have such complex and intricate shapes. There was an Orchid Show in a local village recently and people came from far and wide to view these amazing plants! (JOY)
