How do you handle the whole troop working on a badge or IP? Does each girl handle a different activity and they all get together to go over everything that each girl did, or does each girl each have to do all 7 requirements? Example: one of the requirements was put together a warm-up for sports...do all 7 girls put together their own warm-up?(and this warm-up was required to get the IP) I keep getting mixed messages as to how troops handle this. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure wat an IP is, but here is how I handle my Brownie Try-It's. Because there are four activities for a Try-It, I have one done at home. I send an email to he parents asking them to do this one wek in advance. While I am setting up for the meeing, my co-leader taks to the girls about what they did. Depending on the Try-It, we do everything in stations. Sometimes we split the girls up and somtimes they do it together.

An IP-Interest Project is the term the Girl Scouts use for Cadette badges. They have to do 7 activities, 2 skill builders, 1 career exploration, 1 service project, 1 technology and 2 additional in any other area. Can each girl pick one thing to do and then get together and go over with the rest of the troop their activity? That is whaty I am trying to find out.

Each girl has to do each requirement to earn the badge.

I don't know how to edit my reply, so I'm just adding another. Requirements can be done as a group. If the badge is cooking, each girl doesn't have to make a separate batch of brownies, they can do it together. With seven girls, you might want to make two or three pans. If they have to interview someone they don't all have to interview a separate person, you can invite someone to your meeting and they all ask a question. But they do all have to be actively involved, not just listening to a report of what someone else did. For your warm-up activity they could work in pairs or each girl contribute an exercise or two to the whole routine. But don't have just one girl make it up and then teach the others. I hope that helps!

Thanks LeighAnn, that is the answer I was looking for. I understand what you are trying to say. Some activities can be done as a group while others need to have each other cover. It is not clear in anything that I have read, so your answer ally helped. Thanks

The method I use to complete a level patch is to divide & conquer. I will create 3-4 stations. Each Scout will go to each station & complete 1-2 requirements. By the end of a 1 - 1.25 hr mtg you can usually complete a Petal - Try It. For a Jr. Badge it will take approx. 1.25 - 1.75 hr. For a Cadett - Ambassador IP it's anywhere from 2 hrs - 2 mtg's. This includes time for snack. I have 2 co leaders in both troops & "retired" Leaders who will generously give up their time to run a station. Don't stick to the script that's written in the Patch books. There are ways to combine 2 & sometimes 3 requirements in 1 station. Don't forget your parents. They too can be a great resource & help.
