Amaranth leaves, when ground and applied to hair (available in Indian grocery stores), are also supposed to be useful for this purpose. I remember reading about it on a website called vegrecipes4u.You can also grind hibiscus leaves and apply to hair before shampooing. My mom used to do this for us when we were young. Hibiscus leaves are supposed to promote hair growth, and make hair healthy and shiny.
