BellaOnline Forums Home and Garden Fish pregnant platies?

I've thought for some time now that I had two pregnant platys. However, they are taking FOR-EVER to give birth, it might even been four weeks by now since I noticed black spots in their bodies.
Now, I heard it suggested somewhere on the net that black excresion (sp?) is a bad thing. One of my 'pregnant' platies has pure black waste 0_o. Now I'm wondering if they're both just very unhealthy or something. Am I worrying too much??

isn't there some sort of pregnancy test for fishies out there in the big world of aquarists?!
cat: i would look up how long usual gestation of platys are. that may help to find a time table.
