Hi all! First off let me tell you a little bit about myself and my family so you can get a "feel" for the style Im going for here. Both me and my husband are what you might label as unconventional. We are having an un-medicalized birth, we dont know the sex of our child, Im birthing at home with the assistance of a midwife and we will not be taking my child to a "conventional pediatrician" instead we are choosing a holistic practitioner. Both my husband and I are very much into philosophical, metaphysical and spiritual ideas and we live a "green" lifestlye as much as possible. Mythology, astrology, tarot, lucid dreaming and self-development are just a few of topics that line our book shelves. We have a girl name picked out. If we have a girl we will definitely be naming her Luna Celeste. We like the idea of choosing a name that is unique yet connected to the elements, the universe, mother earth etc... Boys names are much harder!! I like Orion but HATE how its pronounced OH-Ryan so thats a no for me. lol. So...I have been pondering the name Mars. I feel it is quirky, masculine, kinda weird, yet approachable if you can look at it from the right point of view. it seems alot cuter than Lars. oh and we have to give the baby the middle name Warren, its my husbands middle name and its his fathers and his fathers father, so its a generational thing. I didnt know until recently that the name mars is also the name of a candy bar. :( which kind of makes me mad lol! But my husbands name is Heath and thats the name of a candy bar as well, no one ever says "oh! like the candy bar!". AND Luna just so happens to be the name of a snack bar called the Luna Bar, but that isnt stopping me from using luna because its a fairly new product so people arent likely to automatically make the connection. ANYWAYS ( lol sorry for such a long post) .... What do you think of the name Mars?

I think the name can work. I know a guy whose nickname is Mars (he's full name is Marcel) and he has had this nickname his entire life and I've known him a good portion of that and no one ever makes fun of the name. I do think having more of a "normal" name, Warren, as a middle name will help his full name not sound too weird, balance it out a little. Luna is a lovely name as well. I hope this is somewhat helpful.

If an actress can call her daughter Apple, then there is nothing wrong with calling a son Mars. In the UK we have a chocolate bar called a Mars Bar... it helps you work, rest and play, or so the advertising goes! I like unusual names. The name Luna Celeste is enchanting.

First of all, congratulations! And Luna Celeste just sounds wonderful! smile

Then, I really like Orion, but not pronounced OH-Ryan, but Oh-Rion (it's how we pronounce it in Dutch).. But I like Mars as well and I think you should choose that if that's what you like best!
