Hi Daters!

How are you planning on handling the holidays?

Going to your parents and him to his?

Hanging out with mutual friends?

When do you think BOTH should be spending the holidays together?

One week into dating smile or longer?

Thank you smile

I was in this situation a while back and it was always a challenge. One year the parents were not expecting me to bring someone one on xmas and when I did he was not welcome which was kind of nasty of them but he turned out to be not such a nice person which I think my family saw right thru him that day.

His family on the other hand was amazing. Even bought my son they hardly knew a toy and I would be happy to see them if I ran into them again (but would hate to run into him again ever).

With my beau of nearly 5 years now his parents were here from Australia for Thanksgiving a few years back and my family welcomed him, his kids, and his parents with open arms. They really love him but he is a great guy.

Holidays can be tricky when you are in a new relationship. Family is way intuitive so don't ignore that : )

I thought I better tell you all if you don't have date. Don't feel bad about not finding right ones. Just go to your friends, relatives and parents' houses for holiday. Enjoy yourself and who know who you will meet. Have A Great Holidays.

I think it is always awkward to bring a guy that you have just met or just started dating to a family Christmas. It is awkward for him because of all the preset family dynamics, and that makes it awkward for you. Everybody stares or makes presumptive comments. I've been there. It was awful. New Years... that's a different matter. Everybody is more relaxed. There's no baggage. I don't actually have a date but I met a guy at a Chistmas party a couple of weeks ago. I think he's going to be where I'm going to be on New Years, so I'm waiting to see what happens.

Hi Kari N:

Good for you smile

I had a quiet one as my beau is back home while I am with my daughter for a temporary job, but heading back home 1/28. Really missing him but enjoyed the time away from his family drama.

Angela, Glad to hear you'll be going back soon. I've been out once again with the guy I was with on NYE. Now that the holidays are over, everybody's back in their routines. We may hook up again this weekend. I haven't met his family, but then he is not really a beau (yet?). It's at that in-between stage. -Kari

I had a date on last Halloween. We agreed to get together next Halloween. He was cute and funny, but I think too silly to see on any other holiday.
