Hello all, Well, I turned 30 earlier this year. About a month ago I noticed the first gray hair on my head, and now my metabolism has died. I feel like I need to hold a funeral or memorial service, lol. I have always had a HUGE appetite but rarely gained any weight from it. I even have a reputation among my coworkers as the girl who can eat everything and not gain a pound. Well, I held out hope for as long as I could, but age finally caught up with me. Over the past 3-4 weeks I have gained 6 pounds (and this happened BEFORE Thanksgiving, so no blaming it on that unfortunately). I know that all I can do now is try to control the amount of food I eat and the types of food I eat (luckily I stopped eating most "fast food" several years ago anyway). I really need to get a grip on this fast, because my pants are already beginning to be too tight to wear, and I really don't want to spend money on new clothes. Anyone had a similar experience?

Your metabolism is controlled by your diet and your activity level not your age : ) My metabolism is faster now at 40 than it ever was in my late 20's and early 30's because I workout and eat completely different now than I did then. I used to struggle to maintain my weight now I have zero issues with weight maintenance.

My diet is cleaner 80% of the time (80% of the time I eat organic, no processed or fast food, and tons of veggies, fruit, lean proteins, and healthy fats, 20% of the time I eat whatever I want).

I also do Metabolic Conditioning workouts and I do everything I can to boost my immune system by getting enough sleep, taking vitamins and immune system supplements plus I make an effort to reduce stress which can also slow down metabolic function.

Having a slow metabolism is a choice so choose to not allow that to happen and it won't smile
