Today I went to Black Cat Friday at the Pet Refuge and adopted a tiny black kitten named Harley. (Was that fate, or what? I rode a Harley for 20 years!) He has some big pawprints to fill, but his purr is big enough for starters. Meanwhile Smokey's nose is out of joint and she is hiding under the bed while Harley explores his new home.

that is awesome, Claybird! You did a good good thing. I never ehard of Black Cat Friday before but I think it's brilliant. Black cats are always the last to be adopted at shelters.

Personally, I love black cats. My two cats that I have right now are gray. I love them and wouldn't trade them for anything, but I wish they were black.

I like black cats, too. There is an elegance about them, although it will be some time before Harley grows into elegance, if ever! My previous black cat, Oliver, died of cancer last summer and his sister Smokey has seemed lonesome ever since. So when the shelter advertised Black Cat Friday, with half price adoption fees for black cats, I couldn't resist! Smokey is not at all sure that she wanted a new kitten in the house yet, but at least she is out from under the bed and slinking around the house, grumbling. But she likes to play, so I'm sure that Harley will win her over in time.

Got my black cat. Well, more like she's got me. Ever since adopting Indy from a friend who was moving crosscountry many years ago, she has become one of the family. The wife doesn't like the added attention this female gets in the house, but then Indy benefits every Christmas from the domestic matriarch.

Beetle, I am in total agreement with your wife, I hate to share with another female (lol). Thank goodness our Jack Russell Terrier is a male, Jeremiah - although we both tend to get jealous over my boyfriend smile But we have come to an agreement.

Any pictures of Indy to share with us?

My cousin used to have a black cat. I think black cats are misunderstood, I always feel so bad for them when people curse them for crossing their paths.

Congratulations on getting a black cat! I adopted my black cat Sable, who just turned 15 and he makes my life whole. I bless the day he crossed my path because I think he brings me GOOD luck!
