Omnimystery News has an interesting article about a series of graphic novels based on the Sherlock Holmes mysteries. I am providing a link to the article and would love to hear what you think about graphic novels.

Personally, I find them interesting and they certainly seem to be gaining in popularity. A number of established authors are going that route to reach and gain new readers.

Your thoughts?

Interesting concept. (I wonder why they no longer call graphic novels "comic books.")

Probably sounds too old fashioned. The word graphic novel will draw a crowd who would think that comic book sounds too outdated or even childish, IMO.

Graphic novels have certainly gained in popularity even with authors such as Janet Evanovich.

Edie, I got in on this discussion late but wanted to say that "Sherlock Holmes" is one of my FAVORITE stuff to read or watch. I have probably read ALL the books that exist - thank goodness for public libraries or that would have been expensive smile And Watson is a second. A dynamite combination indeed. The TV shows are okay sometimes, depending on how it is presented.

Libraries are great for catching past novels in a series, aren't they? I actually like Watson more than Holmes. He is a pretty cool character.

Hi Edie:

For a very long time I did not realize that Shelock was a drug addict (lol).

And when I finally figured this out - I was so disappointed.

We do tend to place our heros on a pedestal, don't we. Unfortunately, they are sometimes as flawed as those they are seeking.

LOL Edie, so true.

I do try to watch them on TV whenever I have the time.
