There are three states of time, the past, the present and the future? The past and future are infinite in length, but how long is the present? What length of time is the present?

Hi Craig.. Many people in the Western part of the world are slaves to time. We are always "running out of time". Indigenous people realize that they don't own the land.. the land owns them.. and thus the concept of owning anything is pretty much foreign to them. They travel through their own time lines.. past and future and realize that both link back to the present. They believe we can reach back from both the past and the future to influence what is happening now. But, time doesn't own them. They don't worry about what time it is.. or what day it is .. or what month it is.. they just live one day one moment at a time. Perhaps that is the way life is supposed to be. What is Time?

Eternity? How can the present be Eternity when time can be measure in nanoseconds or less? We only exist in the present. And yet the present is a small sliver of time between the past and the future. The prsent is fleeting. It slips from the future into the past incredibly fast. The moment we now consciously exist, Here and Now, is extremely brief.

By eternity, Lynn meant that we are perpetually in the present. Think of it as the exact opposite of your belief that all we have is measurable past and promise of future. In reality, all we have is right now. The future doesn't exist except in our minds, and the past is nothing but bygone "nows." It is only in our cultural beliefs that the past and future are what matter...we stare backward at one, and focus intently on the other, not realizing that we are ignoring the only thing that is real...the present.

We only exist in the present. Yes! I just realized that you had answered your own question beautifully. "We only exist in the present." We don't exist in the past, nor in the future. We are perpetually in the present, for eternity.

Shannon answered your question to me perfectly. We are eternally in the present.
We may waste that eternal present by living in the past or hoping for the future, but all we have is now.
