If you are over the age of 55, so you have pets? If so, tell us about them!

We have two cats that own our house. One is 15 and the other is about 11 (we think). The 11-year-old adopted us one day, so we don't have any information regarding her past. We do know that she had been shot, probably with a BB gun or pellet gun, before arriving on our doorstep. Although we enjoy our cats most of the time, they are beginning to be a little more expensive the older they get. The 15-year-old has a thyroid condition and requires prescription medication every day. We have decided when these two cats leave this world, we are not going to adopt any other pets. We don't know what life has in store for us and we just don't want to cause undue harm to a pet.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

Diane

I just recently got my cat in May
I named him Asia
He so much fills a lonely void in my life
I love him so much

Diane, I can relate to your feelings
I thought many times how selfish of me for having Asia
If he gets sick i can't afford to take care of him
Then i was told from the local MSPCA the help is there should i need them some thing can be worked out
I found Asia on Craigs List
And i can't help but think what would of happened to him if i hadn't taken him
His is very loyal and affectionate
And we are here for each other
I was very lonely before he came into my life
He came to me with his long fur all mattered
Now with my care his fur is long and soft
My biggest fear is dying and leaving him But on the other hand Asia has given me a reason to live

I have two long-hair dachshunds. They're my babies and totally rule the roost around here (especially the female). Cyndar Ellah is almost 6 years old, but thinks she's 2. She's a red long hair. Corky is almost 8 years old and is a black and tan. His nick name is Demon Dawg (he's "talks" in growls and runs and plays while growling). Cyndar's nick is Elephant Girl because when she runs she sounds like a herd of elephants running. So dainty LOL
