What symbols appear in your dreams most frequently?
I seem to dream about water the most. Deep blue seas, sparkling waves that are hundreds of feet tall, springs, wells. Most of the time they don't freak me out LOL.
Though on occasion, the waters are dark, deep and foreboding!

I've never been one to dream much, and when I do, I can't remember anything. My husband has tried waking me up a few times when I was thrashing about, obviously I was dreaming, but even when he asked me right after I woke up, still I couldn't remember anything. Is there a reason why your mind would tune it out?

Hi Sandra, like so many things, if we want to work with our dreams we have to put our intention into it.
I know a lot of people who don't remember their dreams, and the common thread seems to be that it's just not that high on their list of priorities.
When I first got into dreamwork, and I committed myself to waking up a bit early every day and writing in my dream journal - even before I'd get up to use the bathroom, I started remembering tons of stuff. In fact, I had to carry my dream journal in my purse because it got to a point where I'd be remembering stuff all day long! It was crazy. At the end of the day I may have written ten pages in my dream journal LOL.
But then a couple of years ago I wasn't remembering any of my dreams - maybe one a month. That's very unlike me, but I was pretty busy with other things, and didn't worry about it.
I believe that if you really have an interest, and commit yourself to a dream journal - a good first step - that eventually your dreams will start surfacing.

Unless I keep a journal and go back and read the history, I forget what symbols are repeating. And I find, if it's an animal for example, it will repeat and then a new one eventually takes it's place. There was a time when it was all about me and the "bear", until one actually showed up at my house, in real life, and I was living a few blocks from the beach in south Florida! Go figure! Stairs repeat (with the bear sitting on the top step)...now that those characters have come and gone, at the moment the most repeating thing is "willing myself to fly" and I do. I have knowledge within the dream that ...."ok, this looks difficult, but it's not really, if you believe you can , you can, and I do."

Very cool Travellight. A bear, ay? Guess it was good you weren't dreaming about alligators LOL!
When I first got into dreamwork, water was my most frequent symbol. Then I went through a period where I kept loosing my children {just in my dreams thank goodness LOL}. Then I worked that out, and started attending weddings - some my own - some as a guest.

My most frequent dream symbol would have to be someone coming after me...danger. And falling.
My first recurring dream is having a man breaking into my house, and hiding, seeing his feet walking close to me, looking for me. Sometimes I can see enough of him to see a gun. I have been shot in two dreams. Thankfully, the dreams usually do not involve guns anymore...just fear.
The other recurring dream is climbing a tower up into the sky, clouds all around me. I suddenly realize how high up I am, I panic, and I fall. (Obviously, I have a terrible fear of heights.) This dream is fairly regular, and I usually wake gasping for breath.
I have a lot of stress and anxiety in my life, so I figure that's being played out in my dreams. Feeling my life is out of control, and that people are out to get me...

When I was a kid it was always a beached whale which I've never understood. In college it was always my teeth falling out or punching somebody hard but it having no effect and the other person just laughing.
After college I was always running from something as fast as I could but feeling like I was so slow and getting nowhere or could not outrun somebody before I fell off the edge of some place and then woke up. That one used to freak me out a lot.
Now it's snakes and climbing. So weird how it's one theme for many years.

loosing teeth I guess is quite common. As a kid I always had this reacurring dream of running, tripping and landing on chin and knocking my teeth out. Well I am ?$% yrs old and still have all of them. The place was always the same ...in front of my grade school.

That's like 3 bad recurring dreams in one, running, falling, and losing teeth! The only thing that could make it worst is landing on snakes too : )

Aw Kitten, that sounds like a scary dream!
Why can't recurring dreams be about receiving a massage on a beach in Hawaii. With oil that smells like coconuts or almonds!
