Hi Lisa,

I'm interested in exploring buddhism for both myself and my daughter who has shown a really keen interest.

Could you recommend any books or websites which can explain things in simple terms for a child?

Thanks!

Vicki

Hi Vickie, welcome! How old is your daughter? Children's Buddhist books are a big love of mine, and I've made some book lists/reviews by age that you can view - the lists are available in my Buddhism for Kids Section . There's also a Buddhist Coloring Sheets page that I put together, if she is of coloring age.

A more recent book I reviewed and loved is Buddha at Bedtime, which is for kids ages 4-10 or so. In addition to Buddhist-based folk tales, it includes a section in the front for parents, with ideas for introducing Buddhism and meditation to kids.

I also have a Buddhism for Parents section, with a few book reviews and websites, althouhgh I'd like to expand this section more.

Hope that helps - if you give me her age and interests I might be able to come up with something more specific.

Hi Lisa,

That's absolutely brilliant! Thanks for all your help. I'll have a look through your website at some of the articles you mentioned.

My daughter is 11yrs old and so happy that I'm looking into this for her!

Take care
Vicki

Vicki - happy to help. At 11, she is kind of between children's and YA (young adult) books, huh? There is a series of Buddhist-based YA books that I have been meaning to look into...I will try and find it to post here, and maybe review at some point.
