Today I start college again for the first time in 17 years, and I'm doing it online.

I'm taking two classes right now until the end of October when I add another one. I'm going to be very busy as I look at my syllabus. I have to admit that I'm scared as much as I am excited.

This week I am to introduce myself in both classes, do lots of readings, review powerpoints, begin essay due second week, begin scavenger hunt due third week, submit short paper proposal on Ancient Greece due next week, submit research paper topic on Ancient Greece, and buy lots of coffee to get me through it smile

Congrats and good luck!

I obtained my Master's degree online and it was a great experience - I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Reading all the posts in this forum makes me want to go back to school!

I'm so excited for you! Keep us posted (especially me, since I'll be transferring there before too terribly long LOL)

Future APUS student, (LOL)

I love the online format there. In fact, it seems to be better than the online school my husband teaches at. I've really gotten into the forums so far and began on the assignments.

The online initiation class will not be too bad except that I have to write an essay every week along with one big paper. Not bad, until I combine it with Greece. That one has A LOT of work each week. But it will all be fun.

I think I'm going to get out of the COLL class, but I'm not sure yet. I have to do a LOT of paperwork to become exempt, but that would be one class I wouldn't have to take.

Glad the online format is pretty good. That (for me anyway) will make or break me.

That is so great Rebecca! What is your plan for keeping track of things each week?

Right now I'm just writing down what needs to be done in each class in a notebook and crossing it off as it is completed. Not sure if this is the best way or the method I'll stay with.

For example in my Ancient Greece class:

- Read Chapters 1 and 2
- Write up introduction for discussion board
- Introduce self to at least 4 other students
- Upload self introduction in assignment folder after 4th intro
- Read Parts 1 and 2 in Atlas
- Read supplementary files
- Short paper proposal by end of week
- Research paper proposal by mid week 2

So far, all but the last two are done and crossed off. I love to see lists with crossed off items. It makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something.

I agree that marking things off really help stay focused. I use a calendar and write down things on their due date (plus make mini-tasks for research projects). Otherwise, I'd never get everything done.

I have to see the list since I am so visual. Got three things marked off today. I'm so excited.

Yup I make a weekly calendar page that has all four classes on it with their assignments. That way I can see everything on one page and cross off them items as I get to them. Do you find it better to have separate lists for each class?
