Flower, have you checked the links Phyllis has provided in this thread to see if there is one near you?
Certain things may be a little different from the Gatherings you attended as a child, but many things will be the same.
I'm hoping there will be one in your area you can attend soon.

As a child at the powwows i used to love touching the different stones, when i think about it now it had to be from the energy i felt on them. I loved watching the dances and was so facinated with the pretty beaded and feathered clothing. I used to drive my parents crazy, as soon as we were home i would run around imitating the dances.

You may be surprised at what's in your own backyard across the pond. Many of the German people have an affinity for Native Americans and there are gatherings there. When I was researching designs for my leather dress, one of the websites I found was a business in Germany that makes traditional NA clothing.
With the number of American ex-pats and military bases, there may be events in your area. If you live anywhere near a US base, check with the Public Relations Office for events in November, Native American Month. Native Americans are the largest ethnic group, per capita, in the military. Many bases host events and/or have Native American liaisons. These events may not be publicized, but are generally open to the public.
Hope this helps you find an event, or at least some contacts.

Yes, i will check into this. I didnt think there would actually events here. Most of the bases are closed now there are only a few left, it is about a 2 hour drive to the next base from where i live, but thats not far. I will investigate this subject.

Siyo to all: I have just recently joined the forum and am learning my way around. The Cherokee of GA Pow Wow post popped out at me, as this is one of my favorite Pow Wow's. What a surprise it was to me to read of myself! I was the Navy flag bearer at that Pow Wow. What an honor it was to walk with my fellow vets carrying the flag. I am proud to be an American and proud of my Cherokee blood, but the Grand Entry and the homage to the Veterans always brings tears to my eyes. The exit from the dance arena and each vet welcoming the others home is more moving than I can explain. The service welds a strong bond between each of us. I am honored that I was able to share that with your husband.
The next COG Pow Wow is arriving soon. It will be their 30th anniversary, and will probably be even better than ever! My husband and I are already planning and packing for it and it's not till Oct. 7th! Sgi for allowing my post. Walk in beauty. Morning Dove

Welcome Morning Dove! I guess you never know what you can find or who you may read from on Bella! I can't wait for the Pow-Wow and we've begun our preparations as well.
We went to the Tribal Grounds a few weeks ago and there has been so much done since we visited earlier this year. The bathrooms have been redone, the library floor tiled and there are plans for an education center. It's exciting and we're hoping to help as we can.
We plan our vacation for the week of Pow-Wow and will be arriving the weekend before. If you have time, after you get in, stop by the "Pow-wow pony" in the parking lot. That's our spot and you can't miss our old Jamboree Ralley with duct tape and plastic on the loft front.
Travel Safely, can't wait to see you there! It's going to be awesome, I can already feel it.
