Hello Everyone! I appreciate this great forum. So, I have an 8 yr old nephew (only grandchild) who at the age of 5 already had a big screen TV, gas fireplace, walk-in closet, full bathroom, and even furniture in his bedroom. He has an ATV and a small motorcycle as well. My Dad/his Pap was talking about how spoiled he is. So what does my Dad/his Pap do, he buys him an I-Phone!!! I shudder to think that when my nephew becomes a teenager, what problems he will have!

That is going to be on snotty kid. Probably be lazy and expect every thing to be handed to him on a silver platter.

I wanna be that kid! Ha Ha. He has more stuff than I have, and I'm nearing 40. Wow.

I do think it's a bit much for someone so young. What do kids have to look forward to when they have everything already?

Hi, Tamlar. I agree, some kids are spoilt, but what sort of a kid is he ? hopefully your family will have the money also to give him a good education, and this may help ? but, wow, to have had all those things at such a young age....fab !

I just don't understand people like that. I had a phonecall from my brother-in-law a while ago to say he wanted to replace his plasma tv and could I ask my sister-in-law if she wanted it for her two year old (yup, that's 2!) daughter. All the kid does is watch Barney - no-one needs Barney on a plasma screen!!

At the age of 8?? That's ridiculous. I have a half sister who is much younger than me, and a few years ago when she was still in middle school she had a coach purse, coach billfold, cell phone, name brand everything for clothes, etc. My dad & stepmom take her on super nice vacations - hilton head, cancun, etc. She is super spoiled. My stepmom even complains sometimes that my sister is spoiled, and I have to remind her that she's the one doing it!!

My television set is 22 years old. It works just fine. When I was a kid, I didn't have a television in my bedroom until I was 15, and then it was an old black and white portable that I got at a garage sale for 3 dollars.

I kind of liked that black and white set. I even had to get up to turn the knobs, lol.

I've heard of people getting iPod Touch and iPads for their preschoolers, so nothing surprises me anymore. I don't know why a kid that young would need something like that. I guess they just want something fancy for their kid to drop into the toilet. *shrug*

Thanks Everyone. My parents did not spoil me and my sister. I hope that my nephew will make it to college. I worry that when he becomes a teenager, he'll either wreck cars and injure himself or others, end up in jail or have more than one baby. I definitely hope that I will be wrong!
