I just posted some cool pics of the
best day hikes in Tucson for my clients. We actually hiked up until mid-June and got to hike in the Pacific NW too (Mt. Rainer, the Columbia River Gorge & the Olympic Penninsula, all amazing and so different than the desert).
After we got back from that trip we shifted to swimming mode. Temps have been 98 to 108 degrees since we got back and most hikes out here offer zero shade; can't get much shade off a cactus : )
The heat gets unbearable by 10 or 11 and if you go in the evening there's snakes, and mountain lions, and javelinas roaming for food. Summer is definitely not a good time to hike here in the Southwest.
Can't wait until next month. We're hiking in Big Bear CA.
