hi all' I was wondering if anyone could give me an oppinion on my thyroid ultrasound......IMPRESSION: the glands are extremely inhomogeneous bilaterally without enlargement. Just wandering if its the thyroid gland or is it other glands and what does it mean? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I am sorry but I realized I probably didnt give enough info on my post so I am going to post my whole ultrasound report,with hopes that I will get some help..so here it goes.. PROCEDURE: Real-time scanning performed with images obtained over the thyroid. Color flow utilized. Multiple representative images obtained. FINDINGS: SIZE [LxWxAP] Right Lobe: 3.1 x 1.5 x 1.3cm [volume=3cc]Extremely heteregeneous Left Lobe: 3.2 x 1.1 x 1.3cm [volume=2cc]Extremely heterogeneous Isthmus:2mm AP diameter NODULES: Left midpole 0.8 x 0.5 x 0.4cm [volume=0.1cc] APPEARANCE: Nodule is stable and solid and echogenic.(2yrs. ago it was hypervascular] IMPRESSION: Extremely inhomogeneous glands bialaterally without enlargement. single stable nodule on left.

Just sae the endo. to discuss this ultrasound he says he's not worried about it and suggest I do nothing...DO I go with that? I asked him what extremely inhomogeneousglands bilaterally meant he said it just means it not the same.

One more bit of info needed: what led your dr. to do an ultrasound? Just the presence of goiter? Any thyroid history?
