Is it possible to fall in love with anyone or do you feel there is just one opportunity to find the one person you were meant to be with?

Yes, one can fall in love with anyone. But the question is, is it the right one? It can happen, you found the right one and then for some reason there gone from your life, and you cant have them back.

Hi Eleise, I know a number of couples who had marriages arranged by their families. From what they say, if you live in a culture whereby you accept that it is the tradition for your family to choose your partner for life, you do indeed learn to love the other person as time goes by.

I guess the way it works is that if you know that this is the chosen person for you, you both work hard to make it work as you accept that this is the custom and this is your new life.

The other side of the coin is that there are so many wonderful attributes in different people. If you wanted to fall in love with the perfect person you might want that person to have all of these attributes in one gift package. But you could end up searching forever!

And even when you find that perfect person, one day you may find a stranger with an attribute that you hadnt thought of before and yet again you end up frustrated.

Perhaps a compromise is to settle down with the person who wants to shares all of lifes ups and downs with you (and vice versa), and then connect with other people when you feel a desire to fulfil other needs as you grow. After all, they also say that mens characters become known by their 20s but womens keep growing forever! (JOY)

I feel that falling in love and loving somebody are very different things! Falling in love can be a slippery slope...it's the word "falling" (i.e. spinning in illusion) that can get you into trouble! You can fall in love with anyone...because you want to be in love so badly that you project an image in your mind onto the guy, even though he doesn't possess those attributes at all. And you can convince yourself, in that "falling" state that he feels the same way, even when he doesn't. When in that state, the break-up can be horrific.

True love may or may not include the "falling" part. But speaking for myself, my true love didn't involve the falling part. It felt like an ancient recognition, a bond that goes back too far to calculate. I am comfortable with him in the way that I am comfortable with my own company. I don't have to keep my guard up, I don't have to keep a facade going...I don't pretend to be somebody I'm not, while telling myself he's helping me to grow in new directions. When he says he loves me, it's genuine. True love is rare to find, and I feel blessed.

Please never close your mind or your heart to the possibility. As a teenager, I told all my friends I would be the last of the group to marry. As it turned out, I was, not getting married until age 32. There were some mitigating circumstances that contributed to the delay. The main reason was the loss of my fiance. Having also lost a new friend early in that year, it took me almost 10 years to commit again for fear they would die on me.

A double dare, a personal ad and within a year I was married to a wonderful man. It can happen and sometimes in weird ways.

Here's what I did...this does work! I made a vision board of what true love looked like to me...lots of happy, smiling couples, roses, mountain hiking (something I wanted to do with my true love!) beautiful love quotes, etc. I also wrote a list of 100 things I wanted in a man, then put it away in my closet and forgot about it. I did this almost tongue in cheek, as I had really given up on men. 3 years after the vision board, and 2 years after the list, he found me...on Facebook, of all places! He fits almost all of the attributes on my list...really, all of the truly important ones. By being clear about what I required, even if I didn't believe it would happen, it projected an image to the universe so that my true love would find me...1,500 miles away!

...So, never say never, even if you've given up! smile

Hi Joy smile Really great conversation.

I love the vision board and I've done an experiment too with Universal projection as well. An arguement was made to me about whether or not "projecting" was just something that we make happen and nothing more.

My perspective was that it was both. Kind of like a boat. It's the water that brings a boat to and from a direction of intent and when you have an idea of where you're going paddles don't hurt anything speeding up the process, but without the water, the boat would just sit there. To me the Universe is the water.

I've tried this out, not with a vision board but in my mind each night before I went to bed. Both times when I tried it, what i projected was something completely out of my control but came within the month one time and two weeks another. I've done this with lost animals and they seem to pick that up as well. With them, I have to envision it with pictures and small words like their name.

I believe the Universe uses energy attraction and opposition to bring about what is in the core of our being. There are times when balance is so out of whack we just have to go through the rough patches or something completely opposite that either we were attracted to or that was attracted to us, but in those cases, we're usually acting out of a low - self to an extent. we might be desperate or afraid, etc. but even then I see those experiences like sanding a piece of drift-wood, giving it in the end a brilliant shine with a learning lesson of some type our Soul was called to work through.

With love I absolutely can confirm that if your heart is centered and projecting an openness to a growing, loving, contenting relationship, the overall result resounds in a universal way with what it is that is being put out.

I have a lot of questions that come up about Soul Mates in readings and I feel a great deal of who we have our contacts with have to do not only with what we're ready for but past acquaintences as well from another time.

I think we can come to love anyone of course, because the essence of each of our beings is ultimately love, but falling in love, in the romantic sense, is a different thing. There is a chemistry and compatibility issue that goes beyond simply feelings of love.

For me, the idea of soulmates is kind of problematic, at least the way it is usually presented. What if your deepest intent is to grow? Then perhaps it serves you and your partner best if the relationship actually isn't easy, because the challenges present our triggers to us, and urge us to grow. All too often it seems like people misinterpret the idea of soul mates to think that the relationship will be smooth sailing, with no issues. Personally, I wouldn't even want that! But that's just me:-)
