My friend and I were talking over dinner about the discrimination that the "travelers" in England and Ireland have to deal with, in part because they have no permanent home. Many of them live in RVs. Part of the issue seems to be that there's nowhere to "mail things to them".

That seems to me to be an odd thing for a government to care about. But let's say they do. What do most RVers do about receiving in mail?

Thats a really good question. Maybe you forward it to the town or city you know you will be in next?

Does this mean the UK has no 'Mail Forwarding Service' companies like we do here in the USA? We used one for several years and it was great. Our mail arrived once a week in a package if we were staying somewhere, and was held until we notified them when we were traveling.

That's a good question Zia. I don't know. You would think they would. That way an address can be registered with the government as the location to send tax forms (which I imagine is the real issue here). Then the tax forms just get forwarded to wherever the people are currently staying.

There are plenty of mail forwarding services that RVers in the U.S. to choose from. One of the most popular ones is through the Escapees RV Club and is what I would probably use if I needed it. When we lived full-time on the road, our mail forwarding service was my mother-in-law. She would send us a box once a month, general delivery, to whatever town we lived in.

I just Googled mail forwarding services in the United Kingdom, and it definitely looks like they have options. Maybe it is too expensive and when you are living like a gypsy, budget is a big factor. Hmmm.....

Escapees is the best service IMO b/c it gives you an actual physical address you can use for packages, or as a home base for taxes. Not a PO box.
