Personally, I use checks less than I did twenty years ago. An interesting statement about the check printing industry:

Deluxe Corporation, recently acquired Custom Direct checks for $98 million. Deluxe reported sales of $1.34 billion dollars in the past 12 months. They are anticipating the new purchase of Custom Direct will increase their revenues by $60 million.

I hardly ever use a check. I think it's just the quarterly taxes, and then one auto shop I use still needs a check. Other than that it's all direct pay or credit cards (which are rewards cards).

I do have a HOME NOW (yay!) so I need to make actual checks with my address. There are places in town besides the water that only take checks, like my handyman, and two of the thrift stores.

In front of me I have a checks in the mail offer. I am looking at the ones made of recycled paper. maybe I will use their website for my order and save more paper.

Picking out checks can definitely be a lot of fun! And for you it is an amazing step, that you can have your address printed on them! Enjoy smile

I pay a few bills online but I write out checks for other services (oil, furnace cleaning, handyman, lessons, etc)

I have kids in school and they need checks to pay for their stuff as they want "checks only". We get the check back if the planned event or request falls through.

Our town bills only accept checks also.
My brothers town allows online payments but they also have to pay a 4% or 5% surcharge to do it.

I saw some cute checks that had lip prints on it and said "kiss this money goodbye". I am thinking about buying some but if you order them, they require your address to be on the checks which I haven't had for years, I will write that info or phone number out of necessary.

I have a book of checks but never use them. I pay everything via my bank's web site. I like it because they cut the checks and also all of my bills are organized. If I needed to print out a history payment for a bill, I can do it with one click! I haven't written a check for a bill in over 5 years.

Sprite - my oil company auto bills to a credit card so I don't have to do anything. The oil arrives, the bill is paid and I don't have to worry. Our town is all credit card and there's no surcharge (although you could say cynically that they just raised everybody's prices to cover the surcharge).

I did just have to write three checks - one to the dentist to cover a co-pay they hadn't taken, one to pay money I owed to the local Chamber (usually I do those by credit card but they'd not taken my info pre-event so I had to pay them after, which has to be done by check) and one to give to my boyfriend to pay for insurance for his motorcycle. I don't think our insurance company takes credit cards - which reminds me, I had to do a check for my business insurance. So there are still a few times checks are needed around here.

Definitely I feel strongly the insurance company should be taking credit cards!

I very rarely use checks. Debit card, payments over the pc and autodrafts make checks an almost needless thing in my life.

I write one check a month - to the electric company. They are the only bill we have we can't pay online. I can pay through my bank but they still have to cut a check and mail it to them. So crazy.

I stopped using checks years ago. Makes me nuts when those little old ladies pull out the check book at the grocery store and take forever to write a check. Totally annoys me that some employers still pay with checks. WTH! Get with the times!!!

My banker actually told me that there is more check fraud than there is ATM and credit card fraud. Somebody should tell seniors that.
