If you are fans of the wonderful Robin Trocki and charming Lauren Potter on the hit show
Glee, you may be able to imagine how aspiring actors, families and friends of people with Down syndrome felt about the first show to feature a main character with Down syndrome.
It has been twenty years since Chris Burke first appeared as Corky Thatcher in the television show
Life Goes On. Your local public library may have the first season DVD or
The Book of Life Goes On. I hope our parent group libraries include them! (If not, please order and buy locally whenever possible to help raise awareness in your community.)
I'm sure that parents of young children would enjoy this part of the cultural history of Down syndrome and could use the show to help celebrate the accomplishments of all those who paved the way for all our sons and daughters.
