Was it a very wise decision for President Obama to choose Elena Kagan for Supreme Court? Someone who has no judicial experience?

I do not think it was a very wise decision. I am hearing some very negative things about Kagan. For one, there is a promise from the right to attack her on her connection with Goldman-Sachs. Also that it was said "she can identify with the average American" - how? She has lived only in places where the upper elite live.

I would have to read more about her to make any further opinions.

How is never being a judge a qualification to be nominated to the Supreme Court? I think Obama has lost his freaking mind.

Legally a nominee for the Supreme Court does not have to have served in the judiciary system - but, it makes a lot of common sense that the judicial experience should be one of the priorities/qualifications.

This Goldman-Sachs connection bothers me. She was a paid advisor to them. I also recall hearing on the news that Obama also had a connection to Goldman-Sachs. And Obama did introduce Kagan as his "friend". Why make a choice based on friends? The choice should be made on who could do the best job and has a balance of decision making and justice. She seems to be a very contrversial figure.

This is the highest court in the land. We need an intelligent, well balanced statesman with a long history of judicial service there - she does not seem to be a statesman and definitely does not have the experience.

With so many of the recent Supreme Court decisions appearing to overlook the intent of Congress (as in the idea that Corporations are people that deserve unrestricted ability to fund candidates or political campaign issues) or turn a blind eye to what's happening to the Gulf and allow more deep water drilling there and elsewhere and thwart the President's moratorium until investigations on the current disaster can be completed. This all leaves me to think that there are too few members of the Court who are actually READING and APPLYING the Constitution to the issues raised before them. I also fear that they will be dumb enough to ignore the Constitution's 10th Amendment and actually allow the Federal Government to sue the State of Arizona on it's immigration policy despite the dangers to the security of the people there if the law is thrown out. The judicial activism of the Supreme Court to attempt to MAKE laws from the bench rather than interpret them to what standards the Consitution allows makes me wary about having further folks on the Bench who have never served as a Judge before.

This is indeed a Supreme injustice.
