May 5th is Children's Day in Japan. It used to be just Boys' Day (Girls' Day is in March) but now it is a gender-inclusive celebration.

It is celebrated by flying carp kites and eating special mochi. Seems there is a special mochi for eavery holiday!

Even if you are not Japanese, celebrate your boys (and girls) today by playing with them and showing them how much you love and appreciate them!

I took my daughter out to lunch. We had Mexican food (it is also Cinco de Mayo in Caifornia!) Tonight, we'll celebrate with my son. His fiance's birthday is today, too, so we have three reasons to celebrate today!

Will you celebrate your children today?
