I'm hoping to start a herb garden, all in containers (I had a nasty incident with mint a few years ago!) in a little patio-patch of my garden. It's a nice, sunny little spot, with at least partial sunshine most of the day. Any ideas for what I should be starting off with? I know essentially nothing about herb gardening (see above mint mistake!) His_Einna

You can plant tomato, egg plant, even potato may grow in a container. I have an olive tree in a container. Are you growing vegetables only or, any flower plant?

For container gardening you need to be careful about soil, PH condition of soil. By the way which zone are you now? You have to select your plant according to your zone.

You may start with easy grown herb plants like basil, sage, mint, and thyme. Just make sure sufficient supply of sunlight and water. Carmel

Carmel [/quote] These plants prefer shade over full sun. You may also want to test your soil's pH balance before planting your seeds. This plant prefers neutral soil, with a rating of six to eight.
