Hello all. This is the first thread I have started in this forum and I'd like to start by getting some different perspectives on Ron Paul. I like what he supports but at the same time I question how he can implement his political agenda if he is elected. Any comments about him are welcome.

I was listening to him give a speech and was very impressed. I think of him as a Libertarian.

Thanks for your response! I like how he always references the Constitution. It is almost like we have all strayed too far from the country we were meant to be. Any other thoughts?

Why do you think we have strayed too far? Are you speaking Constitutionally too far from the Constitution as it emerged from the Constitutional Convention in 1787?

Remember it took 56 men four months of secret negotiations to create the U.S. Constitution in the summer of 1787. None of them like were completely happy with the Constitution after it was created. Many of them thought it would not last more than a decade before it would need to be rewritten.

I'm for Ron Paul. We need more people in Washington, D.C., who actually understand the Constitution and take seriously their oath to uphold it. I understand your questioning of him being able to implement his agenda. It's sad to have to view it that way, though, because his agenda is simply getting the federal government back to operating within its Constitutional boundaries. A lot of people in this country are waking up: they've turned their head away from their reality tv shows long enough to see that there's a LOT going on that affects them whether they like it or not. I can only hope that more and more people continue to do so, and that we can elect a lot more citizens to public office this fall who will also take seriously the oath to uphold the Constitution. Countless men and women sacrificed, many with their lives, to give us a free nation to live in. Unfortunately, we are losing more and more freedoms all the time. Some Republicans try to blame the Democrats for our problems, some Democrats blame the Republicans. In actuality, BOTH Republicans and Democrats are guilty of stripping the freedoms given to us by the Constitution of the United States. If people do not agree with our Constitution, they are free to leave. Our country still allows that, for now at least....

I am not questioning anyone's view of the Constitution at the moment. I am asking how do you believe we have strayed from the U.S Constitution? What do you believe is currently being interrupted incorrectly about the U.S. Constitution? Tell us all exactly what you mean when you say we, as Americans, have strayed away from out Constitution.
