hi, I have been having some pain near my right ovary. my doctor wants me to have a pelvic ultrasound. I have serious trust issues and am not comfortable removing my pants for anyone. do I have to take my pant off or can I pull pull them down a bit and still have them on? when I tried to schedule the appt I asked this question and the woman asked me if I was 18 and then kinda talked down to me and never answered my question. I am not going to that office, but would like to know ahead of time what to expect. online I read " may or may not" have to change into a gown.

I can guarantee that you are not the only person who will have had that kind of ultrasound at that office and had trust issues. If you find that the person doing the ultrasound (you can request that it be a woman) is not sensitive to your feelings and won't discuss this issue with you, leave. Then tell your doctor. The person you were speaking with might have been a receptionist. There are good ones and bad ones, but she is not a person you need to concern yourself with. Another way to look at it is that if there is something seriously wrong, you don't want your trust issues to hobble your need for diagnosis and treatment. It's important to find out what's causing that pain.

I just had one of these last month. I only had to pull down. There are other types of ultrasounds where you would have to remove more, but if you don't feel comfortable, let them know. They don't see anything when you have them because they do cover you with a sheet.

Good point happy one. I forgot about the sheet. At least it's a modicum of privacy.
