Had a FUN and relaxing holiday. My husband made a great turkey dinner on Christmas Day and I slept ---- that was FUN!

I'm working on cleaning out a messy closet and organizing file cabinets. Not so much fun but very necessary. The payoff will be rewarding!

2009! This is our year to shine!!!

New Year's eve was quiet - in fact I hate to admit this but I was sleeping by 9:00 PM. I'm up early today and ready to start off 2009 on a run.

One of my goals/resolutions for 2009 is to make my life more fun. Sometimes I take myself too seriously.

Life is FUN!

Happy New Year,
~Sharon

For the first time in years, I stayed up until midnight and toasted the year in with non-alcholic sparkling cider with the kids. We had a blast, I was in bed by 12:30.
This year, I made the resolution to slow down and enjoy more. To start saying "no" to the people/things that are draining.
I actually started that a month ago and it's been strangely liberating.

I was up late last night as well - my cousin and her daughters boyfriend go a little crazy buying fireworks down here. We have the room to set them off and we always have water nearby!!

Great light show - a lot of food and very little drink, so no one is drunk!

On Saturday, my cousin's youngest daughter is sending me off to her drama camp so that I can be in a small video to be shown at their play. Yay - Hollywood - here I come....LOL

I'm going to be a star!

My cousin has a 13 year old daughter who is into the dramatic arts. Maisha goes to a drama school/theater where she has been acting in plays for years.

Today, my aunt (her grandmother) and I went down to be in a video to be shown at the performances. We had very small parts (extras) - but it was still fun!

Isn't it funny - children appear to have 'fun' in whatever they do, but in most adults' lives, special time needs to put aside for 'fun'...

My little boy died at the age of 12 and now my young adult daughter has the same disease. Needless to say, we learned early not to put off fun. We try to have fun as often as possible.

We go to Disneyland a lot! Yipee! And yesterday, my daughter and I skipped off to the library to check out stacks of books. Then, we snuck off to one of our favorite restaurants and splurged on a seafood lunch (fresh oysters are her absolute favorite food!)

Today, we cooked for guests and are thrilled with our pomme puree, a decadent twist on mashed potatoes. Now, she's playing computer games with her father and brother while I am loving, loving, loving reading all these amazing books! Oh, and eating a slice of banana cream pie at the same time! Fu-un! Life is good. smile

And you can have fun in the simplest and silliest way. Yesterday a group of us (all adults!) decided to count how many of our fingers had fingerprints on the 'pads' of our fingers that ended in perfect circles. People around us must have thought we were quite strange.

In fact there are some really interesting articles on 'fingertip fingerprints', and on the significance of the whorls, circles, etc. The history of this goes back many centuries.

It is really amazing how God took care of so many details when creating us! No two people have the same fingerprints. That just blows my mind considering the billions and billions of people who have lived.

But do our fingerprints change over the years? I looked at mine and I see lines where there weren't lines before! Aging?

Ha. You made me look at my fingers for perfect circles!!! I don't have any. What does that mean?!?!

Today for fun, I will go see my cousin's retro rock band play at a nearby lounge and restaurant. What about you?

Fingerprints are still a very mysterious phenomenon of nature. All humans have them and the patterns are unique for every individual. You can have arches (plain, tented), loops, whorls and composites (combinations of arches, loops and whorls). Its interesting that similar patterns can be found on the skin of many tropical fish but no one knows how these two are related.

Its also fascinating that if your finger is injured or burnt, your body will reproduce the identical fingerprint again. The only change over the years will be a few extra lines from aging but the pattern you had at birth remains. Maybe Ill start writing an article on the significance of the different patterns - that will be fun! (JOY)
