Many times when I am talking to moms or reading mommy blogs, women will list many negatives about motherhood and then quickly add: "But I love my kids" or "It's all worth it."

I've seen this so much that it makes me wonder why do they feel the need to add this piece of information. Is is so predictable that is is almost a given that when I'm listening to or reading a rant from a mom, she will always throw that piece of information in.

They add that line because they want to be sure that people know that despite any bad feelings about motherhood, they DO love their kids. They love their kids but don't like some of the things that go along with raising them.

Who likes their sleep interrupted constantly or the guilt and pain of disciplining kids? Motherhood has its downsides for sure.

But it is worth having precious little humans in your life.

Think about the pains of having a boyfriend or husband or even a new puppy in your life. Who likes picking up dog poop? Or having your new Italians shoes chewed up? You rant. But you still love and adore your puppy.

I think mothers add that line in their blogs because there is a little guilt in ranting about their children. They feel bad complaining about the innocent children whom they are supposed to love unconditionally. They want the world to know that they still love their children while feeling frustrated about the downsides of parenthood.

And that is okay.

I see. Thanks for the feedback. It makes it alot clearer.

I was thinking that it was a given that they love their kids and did not understand why it needed to be said.

I've known mothers who regret having children...but still love their children nonetheless. Once the kids are here, they make the best of parenting and love their kids even though some of them told me that they would NOT have children if they could do it all over again.

Sometimes, there are mothers who regret having children and do NOT love their children.

And that is sad.

Yes, I would have been one of those who regreted having children, but as you say, I would have tried to make the best of it and love them despite my feelings.
