I have been looking high and low for a crochet pattern for a baby blanket which I saw recently. It appeared to be made with half-double crochet, and the angel pattern in the middle looked like some type of modified popcorn stitch (it was open on the right hand side in lieu of being drawn together at the top, perhaps it is a form of puff stitch which I have not seen before). Does anyone know where I can find this pattern? Thanks for your help.

Was this pattern online? Can you describe the angel. Was it a full one or sideways etc. And what do you mean open on the right? Were the puffs/popcorns in all of it or just an outline etc?

Have you tried going to www.ravelry.com and doing a pattern search. I am not positive but I beleive that may have been either a Leisure Arts or Annies Attic pattern.

I tried ravelry.com, search indicated nothing that matched. Thanks for the suggestion. I had already sent requests to both Leisure Arts and Annies Attic (also the old Workbasket, Precious Moments) all to no avail.

OK, sorry I wasn't clear on my description. The blanket appears to be made in half-double crochet, the angel is in the center of the blanket, starting about 6-8 inches down from the top. The halo is just an outline of either puff or popcorn stitches, but the rest of the angel is completely filled in with puff or popcorn stitches. When I make a crochet popcorn stitch it consists of a given number of stitches, remove the hook from the last stitch put it into the beginning stitch then draw the loop through and tighten up - which leaves an opening in the back side of the stitch. This pattern has the opening to the right side of the puff or popcorn stitch, and really has me confused.

Check the book Contest Favorites Baby Afghans -- I think the angel baby afghan in it might be the one you are looking for. I tried to link, but I guess that is not allowed on this forum. The 123stitch site shows some of the pages & first inset is the white Angel in popcorn/puff stitches. Can't see the stitch detail.

I was able to get that but can't see the details too good either. Looks like a nice pattern though.
I see she hasn't been back wonder if she found it yet.

Can you remember where you saw it as that might help? I've done searches but nothing like that comes up. CrochetKim has a nice one done in squares though.

Thank you to all, it seems that Leisure Arts does indeed have a book with two angel blanket patterns in it, and, according to them the stitch is a loop stitch. If not for your help, I would never have found the pattern, especially since the initial reply from Leisure Arts indicated that they did not have a pattern like the one I was looking for.

Special thanks to debrakay for the suggestion that I go back to Leisure Arts. I am just waiting for the book to come in the mail.
