We have stainless steel bowls we use for our cat's food and water. We primarily feed our cat dry food right now, a few times a day. So each day we'll add more water into the water bowl, and pour food into the food bowl. But we don't scrub the bowl out between servings.

How often do you guys scrub out your cat's food and water bowls?

With my dogs, I place the dishes in a dishwasher regularly (when I have one). Otherwise I scrub them out with hot water each week or so.

I don't have any pets right now; but when I did I had 2 of the double bowls so I could wash them daily. I wouldn't eat out of the same dish day after day - why should my cat/dog?

My cats get a combination of wet and dry food. The wet food dishies are clean for every feeding. I have 4 sets so there's always some in the dishwasher and some ready to be used. Dry food bowls cleaned once a week...and I have 3 clear bowls I use for water...a clean one daily.

I definitely clean the wet food bowl after each use, but that's an occasional treat that they get. For the dry food, I guess for me the food is dry. So it's like a bowl of oranges on our counter, we just leave it there until the oranges are gone. We don't clean out the bowl every day. Or like my water glass up in my bedroom, I don't get myself a new glass every day.

My pets only get dry food and an after dinner treat like a Greenie, by hand. But the bowls nontheless get germy after a week, and I like to nicely clean out both food and water bowls. They seem to appreciate fresh clean bowls, esp with the water.

My cats eat dry food. I change their bowl every week or two.
I replenish their water every day, and wash out the water bowl once or twice a week.

We have the type of waterers for the pets that bubble up so they have running water. These need to be cleaned every few days as they get kind of scummy, even though the water is circulating.

I feed the cats and dogs each morning and then put the plates in the dishwasher every few days.
