I think that he does want me as a real mom type, because he hasn't had a mom in his life since he was very young (he is 15 and im talking very early childhood she deserted him, and I know that had a big effect on him).
He often has friends over a lot and recently when I was bringing them some snacks, I brought in the food and then left and I was leaving I overheard one of his buddies say, "Man she's hot" (meaning me),
and his response was to smack his friend on the arm and say, "Dude, shut up, that's my mom you're talking about".
He didn't say "step-mom", he said the actual word "Mom"
Just to clarify, he calls me Emma, he does NOT call me Mom.
and he has never actually said the word mom TO me, it's just something I have overheard him refer to me as.
And I have heard him refer to me that way several times since then.
So... what do you think about that? Do you think since I've overheard him refer to me that way, that maybe I should ask if he wants to call me that?
I might embarrass him by asking that, or I might make him feel *obligated* to call me that, you know....
I know his dad won't care either way what I call him, because I asked my husband first and he said its up to us (me and my stepson), he is just happy if we are nice to each other, lol...
so so I guess it is whatever my stepson wants...
But would it embarass him? Would it make him feel obligated? I don't know...
Should I approach it, or should I just leave well enough alone??
If I am supposed to bring it up then how do I even do that??
I don't think he *realizes* that I have overheard him say "mom".
