It is official ladies. After reading a lot on this and other forums, I have canceled my surgery that was scheduled for next Monday 10/26/09. I think this procedure is a better option for the woman who is bleeding for long periods of time. That is not my issue at all. My issue is painful cramps and clotting during my 3-4 day cycle. even if I bled for the entire 4 days that would not be so terrible but the painful cramps are what I would like to eliminate and from my understanding, Novasure will not do that. And from what I am reading here, it could get worse. I have also read on another forum the many women experience severe weight gain after the procedure. I certainly don't want that. Besides all the other things that could happen as a result I sure don't want to take the risk of needing a hysterectomy a year later. That would be pointless. I so appreciate all the feedback from women that have had the procedure and I will pray that you have a better experience going forward. I just wish our Dr's would give us a clearer picture of the real outcome. But we have to remember they are salesmen and women too. This procedure brings in revenue for their practice so of course they are going to push it. We just need to arm ourselves with enough information to make an informed decision about our bodies and our health.

Hello... I had the NovaSure procedure in January, 2007. I have experienced no problems at all, and in fact I stopped having periods altogether until last month, almost 2 years after the surgery! Without warning, I started having abdominal cramping and bleeding, very dark red in color, which lasted about a week. Now, 3 weeks later, it has started all over again! I am 46 years old, and my tubes were tied 20+ years ago. I am hoping that someone will share their thoughts or experiences, or at the very least can inform me whether or not I am experiencing a common side effect, as my doctor will not be available until after the first of the year, and I can't find any information so long after the procedure was done. I appreciate any comments...thank you!

I had Novasure and Essure done on Dec. 11th.. The procedure was super simple. Felt no pain, no cramps. Just a little yellow, sometimes pink tinged discharge which they told me was normal for a month after. Now almost a month later I start bleeding, although not heavy at all. I am assuming this is a period, which I was kind of not expecting. But the cramping is outrageous. Its coming from the back and wrapping around almost like labor pains. I am extremely bloated and it has been like this now for about 2 or 3 days. What is going on? I have read some people post on this...but is it normal? Is this what a have to look forward to? I am so frustrated...

I have read this thread with great interest. I had my Novasure on February 9th. I was told immediately afterwards that it was unsuccessful as I have a 'bulky uterus'. I have a follow up appointment for June 2nd - it seems so far away right now. I don't know what will happen next although I am guessing at hysterectomy. I really wish I'd asked a lot of questions at the time but I was so groggy from the general anaesthetic that I didn't ask any questions.

Hi, I had the Novasure procedure 13 months ago. I have had no periods since and definitely no cramping. The only thing I have experienced is extreme depression and anxiety, but only during the week I ovulate. I have not heard anyone else complaining about this. Is this normal? It's very frustrating to feel like this when there is no reason I should.

Hello Ladies I had my Novasure procedure last October, came through it fine, after having 25 years of horrendous periods. Straight after it, I had no discharge, bleed or anything. I couldn't believe how lucky I was, now 7 months down the line, and a day before my birthday, I started getting a heavy black discharge. The pain was bad but nothing I couldn't handle, just upset that they came back :( I was told at the beginning that I might still get lighter periods which would have been fine, better than before, but when each month passes without a periods you do tend to think that you are lucky and you won't have one again. I am hoping this is just a one off, and it won't happen next month, but I am going to see my doctor tomorrow morning!!!
