What is the best over the counter hair dye. I have brown hair and am a natural "redhead" at heart. I use Nutress, but am unhappy with fading so fast. Also whats the best thing to use to make your hair shine. THANKS!!!!!!!!

Hi again, Anna: I think I answered one for you the other day in regard to "inexpensive wigs". Well, I'll tell you what is my "favorite" hair coloring - it's L'Oreal Preference. I use it, and it holds a wonderful color. You can buy this at beauty supply stores as well. Of course, when it's time to re-color, just do your roots, and use what's left over in the bottle, mix it with some straight shampoo, and use this all over your head for the last 5 to 10 minutes (no water). Then rinse out the "soap cap" and your shine is back as good as new.

Everyone has a favorite 'over the counter' hair color. They are all pretty much the same. The secret to shine is first of all condition. It is how you apply your hair color -- the first time and every time after that. It is using a good quality shampoo and conditioner.
For tips on retouching your new growth, read this: How to Retouch

Styling products can make a big difference in shine as well.
