Hi, I'm new here and only signed up because I liked the home and garden topics, especially the exotic pet section. I am mommy to eight ratties(4 girls and 4 boys) but in the past have owned many more normal small animals, including mice, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils and bunnies. I am a rodent lover to the core LOL. Currently I'm a housewife, and that leaves me lots of time to spend with my crew. I also have 4 dogs ranging from 15 pounds to 100. I hope this forum proves to be informative and friendly :)

A very warm welcome to the exotic pets forum. I think you will find this forum both friendly and informative. I love rodents too; my favorite rodent is the rat. There are just very few warm fuzzy feelings like a rat dozing under your hair on your shoulder and nuzzling your neck.

A rat is the number one animal I would recommend as a first pet for a child mature enough to have a pet. Rats rarely bite they are very intelligent, sensitive, and friendly.

Again welcome, we are thrilled to have you here.

Of all the rodents you have owned Olly which one would you recommend for a child - around 7 and up. Which rodent is the most docile? Are any more prone to bite than others?
