I was driving home from my night class when suddenly my 2 year old car with 12,000 miles on it starts making a loud noise. The check engine light came on and it seemed very blah--I was afraid it would stall at a red light, it was idling so low, loud and rough. It was able to make the speed limit, but it definitely did not have the amount of power it usually does.

It's at the mechanic now, but we have a major snowstorm and I don't know when he'll get to it.

Any idea of what it could be? It's a Hyundai Accent (the car, I mean)

Hi kim,

Tough to guess on these type of issues with today's cars. It almost sounds like an oxygen sensor or fuel mix problem, but again, I don't want to guess.

Fortunately, you should be fully covered by the warranty based on mileage and age, so no worries other than when you'll get it back.
