They do watch over us. My grandmother has been gone for 25 years and every now and then she'll come through so strongly I find myself talking back with her in my mind.
I remember when my husband took over his mother's expediting service, the van she had was litterally a lemon - through and through! Each week something worse than the week before broke. All of our money went into keeping it runnng. We had 0.00 left and had to take a run from IL to TX. It was a gov. package and paid well. We got there, picked up another package and started to head back. The engine started overheating and wouldn't go over 18 mls an hour.
Since we hadn't gotten paid yet for theprevious run we had to stay in the van and get to some shelter. We were both terrified. I told hmy husband my grandfather was good with engines and grandma was coming through saying if we pulled over, the next day, everything would be fine. He wanted to travel at night when the highway was less crowded but listened and pulled over.
The next day, the van ran just fine. When we got to have it looked at, the shop explained to us there was a ring in the engine that when it ran would get hot was basically falling apart. As the ring cooled it gelled back together allowing the fuel to run briefly until we could have it repaired.
If that's 25 years and I still feel her at certain times, I'm positive your husband is offering the same comfort now as he did. Maybe even returning the favor of when you carried him
