I left a very angry post in the marriage column venting on my mother in law...It all came to a head tonight where it was her standing there yelling at my daughter and I. My husband sat there and let her carry on screaming and yelling at us. And when she was done, or so we thought, we tried to tell her how we felt and she stormed out of the room. Then he turned on us yelling and screaming about the last woman he had left that didn't understand how important family was. The evening went on, he left for work and I eventually went up to apologize to that woman for something that was not even my fault because I wanted to set a good example for my daughter. Now the mother in law who was threatening to move outside in her van in 20 degree weather is happy, my husband at work is happy-I'm miserable and what struck me just now, was how in all the nonsense we've been through culminating in tonight - the only one who has had my back through this whole 8 month ordeal with this woman living in my house - has been my daughter...My goodness. While that woman was screaming and yelling at me...my daughter even put her hand on my back to support me...do you know how amazing that was? She told her grandmother that "you will not disrespect MY mother" My daughter is 17 and has grown way beyond her years tonight. She cried herself to sleep and I went in her room and stared down at this child who has become this strong amazing woman overnight - so proud to call her my baby...so proud to call her my daughter.
